Why buy a retro ski suit?

If you aren’t fully convinced of why you should buy retro ski wear, please let us have a go at changing your mind.

Retro ski wear doesn’t only look extremely fashionable in the Alps, it’s also the perfect outfit for a ski themed party. Please read on as we’ll give a detailed tour of the possibilities.

Après ski wear

If you’re one of those people who care more about après ski than the actual skiing, a retro ski outfit is just what you need. With some flashy colours and a retro design you’ll be the focal point of the party.

But be careful! Weird conversations with strangers incoming.

Retro ski party outfit

A 90s ski jacket or 70s ski outfit are also brilliant ideas for a local après ski themed party. And to be honest, it doesn’t even need to be a ski-themed party. Retro ski suits work perfectly well for all sorts of fancy dress parties, 90s parties, crazy stag dos or office Christmas parties.

Shine on the snow

Our ski suits wouldn’t be real ski clothing if they couldn’t be used on the slopes, of course. The retro one-piece ski suits don’t only look fabulous, they also perform well thanks to the high-quality modern fabric.

The benefits of retro ski outfits are that you’ll easily be recognised by family and friends. You’ll stop losing track of each other as you race down the slopes.

If you’re not that talented yet, you might also benefit from wearing a colourful retro ski jacket. Thanks to the flashy colours, other skiers will see you from afar and they’ll have plenty of time to avoid a painful collision.

Retro ski suit models

Are you looking for a 90s ski jacket? Or do you prefer an 80s ski outfit? Have a look at our Funky Alps retro ski collection to find the ski suit of your dreams.

Keep in mind below recommendations for the best shopping experience.

Ski clothing parts

In our store, you’ll find both retro ski jackets and all-in-one ski suits in retro style.

Jackets are perfect to combine with different ski pants. Moreover, you can give your retro ski jacket a dual purpose and use it as a regular winter jacket as well. That would just be a tad harder with a ski suit, wouldn’t it? For the ladies, the benefit of a two-piece ski suit is quite obvious we believe.

One-piece retro ski suits, however, are better performers on the slopes. They’ll keep you warmer and you won’t be struggling with cold snow finding its way down your pants or up your shirt.

Don’t forget to complete your outfit with some retro ski accessories.

Ski wear sizes

At Funky Alps, gender doesn’t matter. Whether you’re looking for a womens or mens retro ski suit, we don’t care. We’re trying to avoid getting mixed up in gender debate, so we decided to make unisex retro ski suits.

Retro ski suit colours

What’s the final decision you need to make to buy a ski suit in retro style? Colour, of course.

Since we’re all about real disco-style retro ski clothes, all our pieces have flashy colours. Our all in one ski suits have yellow, blue or green main colours.

Secondary colours depend on the model of choice but we can already tell that you shouldn’t be surprised to find some pink details in most models.

If you’re looking for that little something extra, you should definitely check out our specially designed retro après ski jacket with the most popular symbols of eighties fashion.

How to wash your ski wear?

Once you’ve bought one of our retro ski suits, we want them to remain of top-quality for as long as possible. That’s why will give you a few quick washing tips.

Don’t worry about washing your retro ski suit with the rest of your clothes. However, you should be careful with the products you use. Fabric softeners may damage the waterproof fabric. Also check the washing instructions for more detailed information about other products you should avoid.

We recommend drying your vintage ski gear afterwards. The heat will reactivate the water-repelling qualities of your ski wear. For the best performance and to re-waterproof ski wear after many uses, apply wax or waterproof spray.

Benefits of buying a new retro ski suit

Why should you buy a brand-new ski suit in retro style instead of a used one? Not carrying around other people’s dirty bacteria is one reason, but there are a few more benefits.

The Funky Alps retro ski suits and jackets look authentically retro but they are made with top-quality modern materials. Moreover, your choice isn’t restricted to what our people got bored of. In our online store, you can buy the size and colour of your choice.

Where to buy retro ski wear?

If you buy your retro ski suit from our online collection, you can enjoy some extra benefits.

First of all, our ski wear is very affordable. On top of that, we offer free worldwide shipping. And if that weren’t enough, we’ll carefully package and send the ski suit to you as soon as you’ve placed your order. Check our average delivery times here.

Why don’t you have a look at our collection?

Why buy a vintage ski suit?

Are you wondering why you should buy a vintage ski suit? While you shouldn’t, really, as vintage skiwear is the best. However, we’ll give you some benefits of vintage ski clothing to clear all doubts.

Vintage ski suits look sick. They are old school and fashionable at the same time. Moreover, they serve many purposes.

You can wear your vintage ski suit for an après ski in 80s style or to go to a ski party. Or how about being the king of the hill in the Alps next skiing season? We’re sure no one will top our colourful one-piece ski suits.

Après ski wear

Après ski in style, that’s what we’re about. Whether you’re looking for 70s après ski wear,
colourful 80s ski wear or the perfect après ski party outfit, we’ve got just what you need.

Après ski is a lot more than having some hot chocolate after a tiresome day on the slopes. It’s about socialising, standing out, making fun. And what’s better to stand out in the crowd than a beautiful vintage ski suit?

Ski party outfit

Fortunately, you don’t always have to go to Les Deux Alpes, Whistler Blackcomb or Park City in Utah to wear a fashionable ski outfit. What about a local après ski themed party in your neighbourhood to shine with a flashy vintage ski suit?

Our 80s ski party outfit is just what you need to be the focal point of the party. And please do wear our ski outfit for your local ski party. We’re sure we’ll have loads of orders coming in after you’ve shown off our must-have vintage ski suit. So thanks in advance for showing off your remarkable taste.

Shine on the ice

Of course, our vintage ski clothing also works on all the beautifully white ski slopes around the world. The whiter the snow, the more you’ll stand out with your bright yellow Funky Alps ski suit.

If yellow isn’t really your thing, we’ve also got blue and green. Different colours, same style.

Vintage ski suit models

Before you buy a ski suit, you’ve got to be well aware of the model you’re buying.

Take into account the different parts of a ski outfit and mind the style. Moreover, you should be aware of the sizes.

Ski clothing parts

First up, the clothing parts. You’ve basically got two choices: a one-piece ski suit or a ski jacket and snow pants.

While one-piece ski suits obviously are a bit warmer and more waterproof, separate pieces also have their benefits. With a ski jacket and pants, it’s easier to remove a layer when it gets to hot in the après ski. Moreover, bathroom stops are a whole lot easier — especially for the ladies.

Ski wear sizes

As all clothing, ski suits exist in different sizes. Usually clothes are divided by the sexes as well, but to us, it’s all the same. All our ski suits are unisex. So if you want a mens vintage ski suit and your girl wants a ladies ski jacket, buy both and share!

Here’s an overview of our ski suit sizes:

In the sixties fashion arrived at the slopes all over the world. High-class fabrics and flattering models were chosen over the classical layers-outfit that was used before. In the early seventies reds and blues dominated skiers outfit, while later that decade yellow, orange and brown were to colours to shine in. The best memories of many “older” skiers date back to the eighties and nineties, when practically everybody wore fluorescent colours on the slopes around the world. The brighter, the better and any colour combination was permitted, as long as everybody saw you putted a bit of effort in your outfit. This was also the periode where skiers actually started to wear something practical. Snowsuits are as big as ever, but they've got to be as bright as the sun.

A famous and well-known brand in the eighties and nineties ski fashion is ELHO Freestyle Skiwear. This German company ruled the 80s and early 90s with their fluro garments. Their brand ambassador were famous ballet skiers like George Fuehrmeier and Richard Schabl, who is supposed to be the the ultimate world champ. During his successful career as a freestyle skier, he invented the one handed pole flip and created many maneuvers that have revolutionized Freestyle Skiing.

In Italy Campri and Numero Uno were considered state of the art, while in France Degree7 and Descente are the number one choice for retro lightweight freestyle skiwear. Also the Italian brand Ellesse, which was taken over by the British Pentland Group in 1987, is a brand that still exists and seems to be hotter then ever, since plenty millenials are seen wearing this and other similar brands at festivals and other occasions. Obermeyer, Fusalp and Bogner were famous brands in Austria and Rodeo and Etirel were seen a lot in Dutch winter fashion.

Nowadays it is really hard to find information about these famous brands that dominated the slopes for almost two decades. When you search for these brands on Google, you will find plenty examples of the great designs and hallucinating prints that were made these years.

We from Funky Alps have been inspired by these brands and we are striving to improve our original designs the coming winters, so be prepared for some Lightweight Retro Vintage Neon Yellow Super Comp Classic Winter Old School Wear for boarders and Ski Lovers. Elho FreeStyle, we love you!

It was in winter season 2010 that a group of friends admitted their passion for vintage one piece ski suits. During this winter holiday full of snow they were peeking around in the beautiful area of Les Trois Vallees in the French Alps and they realised the only way to be a real men was to ski in a fluorescent neon onesie. After plenty of apres-ski drinks we came up with the plan for a vintage onesie ski suit webshop.

Now after selling thousands of real vintage items, we took a big step in men kind: design and produce our own retro ski suits and bring back the unique vintage look and feel back to the slopes of Europe.

Relive the eighties and nineties in our head-turning onesie ski suits or unique apres-ski jackets. The look and feel of this items are vintage, but our ski suits are brand new! The lush colour combinations and prints are unique and put together by true vintage designers. The dazzling colours will make everybodies eyes blink. You will glimmer on the slopes!

The retro one piece ski suits and apres-ski windbreakers are available in several sizes, so feel free to buy with a group. Or combine with the other amazing onesies available on FunkyAlps.com. All our outstanding suits and jackets are wind- and waterproof!
